Barefeet International

26th November, 2011

To Our Wonderful Supporters,

It is with gratitude to you, mixed with our sadness, that we announce the closing of Barefeet International.

A range of factors have influenced the decision to wind-up Barefeet, including government red-tape and time pressures on the Board of Directors.

We are so grateful to you, our faithful supporters, for the contribution you have made to Barefeet and supporting us in our mission to help create sustainable communities. We are proud to have been able to help create sustainable projects in communities in both Tanzania and India in the few short years we have been running Barefeet. In that time, a total of $10,726 has been raised and distributed to The Second Chance Education Centre in Tanzania and The Academy of Root Development, India. THANK YOU.

We still have a number of cards available for sale; these cards have a picture on the front and are blank inside – they can be used for any occasion. We would like to sell them before we finalise our accounts so that the money can be distributed between The Second Chance Education Centre and The Academy of Root Development. The cards are available for $1 each or a pack of 10 cards for $8. Please contact michosullivan@optusnet.com.au for more information.

Thank you for helping us work towards our goals; be sure to keep giving generously to other grass roots organisation which are doing similar work. Just because Barefeet no longer exists, do not let yourselves believe that poverty does not exist. Each of us from the Board will be continuing to find new ways of supporting the vulnerable people of our world.

With sincere thanks, Barefeet says farewell!

Barefeet International is a child and youth focused, non-profit organisation working directly with orphans and other vulnerable children and their communities.

Barefeet International is a non-religious, non-political organisation which was established in 2007 by a small group of young, dedicated Australian volunteers. Barefeet was established in order to work with international grass-roots organisations who work directly with orphaned and other vulnerable children in developing countries.

Barefeet International has a strong belief in creating sustainable and long-term solutions to development issues and we focus our work on collaborative projects which aim to develop self-sustainable projects.

Barefeet exists now with the hope that in the future organisations such as this won’t have to exist.
