Something for someone who has everything...
How does it work?
You donate a specified amount which will enable the purchase of one of the below items for a widow or single mother in Tanzania, to enable her to gain skills which will allow her to support herself and her family.
What do you get?
A gift card (with a photo on the front) which explains inside that a donation was made in the receiver's name for the purchase of the particular item you chose. The person you are giving the card to also receives the knowledge that a woman will receive something of great value to her - a chance of a future.
The project: Income generation for widows with children
The aim is to provide unemployed widows and single mothers with an opportunity to generate income and subsequently become independent and economically self-reliant. Textiles are a commodity that shall always have a significant level of demand in Tanzania, and this makes them an ideal medium for a small business venture. Through partnership with SAIDIA Tanzania, Barefeet International hopes to develop a Women’s Textiles Training Centre, where women will be trained in tailoring, tie dying and screen printing. The women will then be encouraged to work at the Centre until they have re-paid their training costs and generated enough savings with which to start an initiative of their own. By doing so, the project aims to be self-sustainable and continue to train and empower widows and single mothers in need.

How do you order your Practical Gifts and Plain Gift Cards?
Send an email to Michelle with the item, quanity and your address. You will be sent an email with bank account details for you to transfer money. Once your money has been deposited your cards will be sent to your nominated address.
